Summer is the perfect season for a getaway. After working with few holidays all through the winter and spring months, June marks the start of the warmer summer season and after working hard all year, come June you’re ready to relax and have fun. What better way to have fun than enjoying the great outdoors with some good, old-fashioned vintage camping?
Attention all campers and glampers: Grab your trailer, motorhome, RV or tent camper and head on out to Gibson Ranch Park in Elverta, California, for Vintage Camper Trailers’ Rally at the Ranch event on June 3, 4, and 5.
Gibson Ranch offers more than 300 acres of pristine countryside, hiking and biking trails in the park, and more than five miles of dirt path in a charming woodsy setting. A scenic three-mile trek, The Park Loop, surrounds the perimeter of Gibson Ranch Park, and a two-mile Dry Creek trail offers more opportunities for hiking.
Playgrounds and picnic areas, as well as potentially a fishing pond (depending on rain) add to the camping experience. Perfect for families, couples and singles, Gibson Ranch offers something for everyone to do.
Enjoy a huge pasture for post-1970 RVs, while the designated “vintage only” camping area will be just that: pre-1969 trailers only – even post 1972 tow trucks will be required to park elsewhere, creating a wholly immersive vintage camping experience. Guests can indulge in Rally at the Ranch’s Friday night potluck and Saturday breakfast, plus explore Saturday’s Open House and Flea Market, and persuade your friends and family members to show off their skills at the Saturday night Talent Show.
In case you’re looking for even more to do, some of the nearby activities include golf within walking distance, a few restaurants (The Island Bar and Grill, Tasty Palace, KFC, Taco Bell, Burger King, etc.), a community yard sale, a mud volley ball game at the park and a 5K run. Horseback riding may also be up and running during the Rally.
